Aubrey,
Mommy surprised you tonight with a night in Philadelphia watching Beaty and the Beast at the Academy of music! She likes doing that stuff for you a lot.

Pumpkin loves Aubrey
I took this picture of Aubrey holding Pumpkin our cat. Pumpkin sometimes scratches and bites, but not too hard. We try not to have her hold pumpkin much but she was being good.

A brief Introduction
Aubrey,
I met you when you were newly 3 years old, in January of 2008. What a wonderful little girl, I thought. You were so much fun to talk to and you were so inquisitive. The world was a wonderful place to learn and Mommy always had you somewhere doing something. You had always been in good hands with Mommy and she created a wonderful space for you to learn and grow in the world.
You quickly became a very important part of my life. It wasn't 2 months after I met Amber that I decided to move from Hoboken, NJ, to Council Rock School District in preparation for your entrance into a great school district, in my plan, 3 years later. I was trying to think ahead for how we could be together as a family and have a great place for you to be able to grow and learn in the best school district around. I guess it worked out, because that is exactly what happened.
In December of 2009, you may remember that before I proposed to Mommy in new York City at the Rockefeller Center, I first gave you a very special ring with a heart on it and a Sapphire. I asked you if it was Ok with you if I asked Mommy to marry me. Thankfully you agreed! You bring me so much happiness to my life every day. I enjoy seeing you in school, at home, on the weekends, pretty much anytime. You are so intelligent but more importantly, compassionate, kind, and thankful. I don't know what the future holds for you, but if you can keep those wonderful qualities, life and God will bring you great things.
When Amber and I were married in July of 2010, you were a very important part of the ceremony. In many ways, I was marrying both of you into my life and making a family together, one for which I was responsible for supporting, protecting and loving in every way I knew possible. Our collective families made that day possible, but you made it so special for me because I felt like you too were happy that I was going to be part of your life too.
I love you very much. I created this blog so that when you are older, you might be able to read some of the things in here that are my messages to you as an adult. Know that you have always and will always be my daughter. Although we are not bonded by blood, there is no difference to me. You are so special in my life and I appreciate all that you are and all that you will be.
I love you.
Doug
